BIO

Martha Reed is a multi-award-winning mystery and crime fiction author.

 

Her short story, THE HONOR THIEF was selected for the Anthony Award-winning Bouchercon 2021 anthology, "This Time for Sure," edited by Hank Phillippi Ryan. Other short stories and articles have appeared in Pearl, Suspense Magazine, Spinetingler, Mystery Readers Journal, Kings River Life Magazine, Mysterical-e, and in two Sisters in Crime anthologies. LUCKY CHARMS - 12 Crime Tales published by the Mary Roberts Rinehart Pittsburgh chapter and PARADISE IS DEADLY - Gripping Tales from the Florida Gulf Coast.

Her first Crescent City NOLA Mystery, LOVE POWER won a 2021 Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Best Attending Author Award as well as being a Silver Falchion Finalist in the Best Mystery category. UP JUMPED THE DEVIL, her follow-up NOLA Mystery was released by Buccaneer Independent MicroPress in December 2023.

Her John and Sarah Jarad Nantucket Mystery series garnered an Independent Publisher (IPPY) Book Award for Mid-Atlantic Best Regional Fiction.

Martha adores traveling, big jewelry, California wine country, and simply great coffee. She delights in the ongoing antics of her family, fans, and friends who she lovingly calls "The Mutinous Crew."

​

She is Past President of the Florida Gulf Coast Sisters in Crime, the Mary Roberts Rinehart Pittsburgh SinC chapter, and is an active member of SinC's online Guppy chapter. She was co-editor for PARADISE IS DEADLY, the Florida chapter's initial anthology. She fully supports SinC's mission statement: "to promote the ongoing advancement, recognition, and professional development of women crime writers."

Martha is also contributes to the revered Writers Who Kill blog and in a moment of great personal folly at Bouchercon 2016, she joined the New Orleans Bourbon Society (N.O.B.S.)
